Turn-Key Tiara 2900 Open Classic — Fully Rigged Great Lakes Fishing Machine with Premium Electronics Package
Rarely does a Tiara come to market this thoroughly equipped. This 2006 Tiara Yachts 2900 Open Classic, located in Port Austin, MI, is a freshwater-only boat offered by a private seller at $159,900. With twin Crusader 6.0 MPI inboards producing 750 hp combined and just under 1,000 hours on each engine, this boat is ready to fish and cruise from day one.
The 2900 Open Classic is a purpose-built dual-purpose platform — equally at home trolling the Great Lakes for salmon and hosting family aboard for a weekend cruise. The cockpit is outfitted with two fish wells, a walk-through transom door, fresh and raw water washdowns, three Cannon Magnum 10 TS downriggers, two Big Jon planer reels, Cannon rod holders loaded with 16 fishing rods, and rocket launchers — a complete, ready-to-fish setup that would cost thousands to replicate. A hardtop, side curtains, and aft curtain extend the usable season and protect the cockpit in variable Great Lakes weather.
Below decks, the cabin offers two double berths, a stand-up shower, air conditioning, teak and holly flooring, dual-voltage refrigerator, microwave, single-burner electric cooktop, and pressure/dockside water — genuine overnight comfort for two couples. Mechanical equipment includes a Balmar Digital Duo charging system, fire suppression system, closed cooling, Bennett trim tabs, and hydraulic engine hatch lifters.
KEY FEATURES:
- Three Cannon Magnum 10 TS Downriggers + Full Fishing Package — This cockpit arrives ready to fish offshore immediately, with downriggers, planer reels, rod holders, 16 rods, and lures already aboard. For Great Lakes salmon and trout trolling, a complete downrigger setup like this represents significant value and eliminates the need for any additional outfitting.
-
- Comprehensive Raymarine Electronics Suite — The navigation package includes a Raymarine e S127 12.1" MFD, Raymarine Axiom Pro 9" MFD, EV-200 Evolution autopilot, Quantum 2 radar, CHIRP Side Vision sonar, Real Vision sonar, CP370 digital sonar module, and a FLIR MD625 marine thermal camera. This level of electronics integration — autopilot, multiple sonar technologies, radar, and thermal imaging — is typically found on boats costing significantly more and provides serious offshore capability and safety.
-
- Prop Pockets + Ax-Head Rudders (Hull Design) — The 2900 Open Classic's hull incorporates prop pockets to reduce shaft angles and lower bow height at cruise, while ax-head rudders deliver precise handling and control. Tiara's construction quality — vinylester barrier coat, solid-glass bottom, knitted biaxial cloth, Coremat hullsides, and end-grain balsa decks — is consistently rated among the best of any production builder, contributing to the brand's exceptional long-term durability and resale value retention.

More Details
Boat Details Description The hull of the Tiara 2900 Open Classic is designed with prop pockets to lessen shaft and running angles for lower bow height while cruising. Ax-head rudders allow for better handling and control. Sound levels are modest thanks to insulation in the engine room and a muffler system that includes side exhausts. Construction features include a vinylester barrier coat, solid-glass bottom, knitted biaxial cloth and Coremat in the hullsides, and end-grain balsa in the decks. For additional protection against alignment problems, the engines are mounted with solid-brass rods that pass through the stringers horizontally. The cabin is equipped with a bifold door at the companionway for easy entry. The aft back cushion on the dinette lifts and latches onto the overhead with a nylon strap to expose open space below the helm station, resulting in a double berth that stretches six feet, four inches. The forward berth is also a double thanks to a fold-up drop section. The head is designed with a curved door to maximize interior space. The galley has dual-voltage refrigerator, single-burner electric cooktop, and a molded sink with pressure freshwater system. In the cockpit, the helm console tilts aft, while the gray fiberglass dash minimizes glare on the clustered VDO gauges. Back-to-back seats give the helmsman a clear view through the windshield, designed with a thick band of poly trim along the top of the windshield frame to turn back the occasional spray. The cockpit has optional fish wells and a walk-through transom door.
